The Admission methodology for the Romanian, English and French study programs

The Senate of the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi has approved its own admission methodology for the Romanian, English and French study programs for foreign currency self-financed students, in the academic year 2019-2020, by evaluating the candidates’ the school performances and the personal achievements. The admission contest is carried out on the basis of the candidates’ selection file, in accordance with the admission methodology in the first year, of the citizens of EU and non-EU countries, in three stages: the candidates’ online registration; the submission of the files in hard copy, the evaluation of files followed by the listing of the candidates’ scores. Romanian citizens can enroll as foreign currency self-financed students only in the French or English study programs.

„We are proud that most of the foreign students in Romania are studying at the «Grigore T. Popa» University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași. In the 2018-2019 academic year, 2573 students from 50 countries have enrolled, to whom I thank once again for placing their trust on us. I am confident that, due to the quality of the medical education in Iași, we will have as many candidates this year, as well, and I have no intention of luring them with pompous words. The admission contest assessing the school performances and the personal achievements of the candidates for the Romanian study program, on foreign currency self-financed places, is organized by the University at the Faculty of Medicine (duration of studies 6 years, fee 5000 EURO / year), Faculty of Dental Medicine (duration of studies 6 years, fee 5000 EURO / year) and Faculty of Pharmacy, duration of studies 5 years, fee 5000 EURO / year.

The admission contest assessing the school performances and the personal achievements of the candidates for the English study program, on foreign currency self-financed places, is organized by the University at the Faculty of Medicine (duration of studies 6 years, fee 5000 EURO / year ), Faculty of Dental Medicine (duration of studies 6 years, fee 5000 EURO / year), Faculty of Pharmacy, (duration of studies 5 years, fee 5000 EURO / year) and Faculty of Bioengineering – specialization Balneo-physiokinetotherapy (duration of studies 3 years, 3000 EURO / year).

The admission contest assessing the school performances and personal achievements of the candidates for the French study program, on foreign currency self-financed places is organized by the University at the Faculty of Medicine (duration of studies 6 years, fee 5000 EURO / year ) and at the Faculty of Dental Medicine (duration of studies 6 years, fee 5000 EURO / year).

    Registration calendar
  • Online submission of files: 01.05.2019 – 18.07.2019;
  • File submission at the Registrar’s Office of the “Grigore T.Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi: 10.05.2019 – 23.07.2019;
  • Display of the temporary lists with the accepted candidates: 5.08.2019;
  • Submission of the files for re-examinations: 6.08.2019;
  • Solving the re-examinations: 7.08.2019 – 8.08.2019;
  • Display of the final lists of the accepted candidates: 9.08.2019;
  • Sending the files to the Ministry of National Education in order to obtain the acceptance letters and the certificates of recognition and equivalence of the high school diplomas: 12.08.2019.

Enrollment process

The candidate will access the online platform of the „Grigore T. Popa” UMPh in Iaşi (www.umfiasi.ro), head to the section called Enrollment foreign students and upload the scanned documents. The candidate will mention the faculty and the study program they enroll for. If they wish to apply to more faculties / study specializations, they will fill in and submit applications and separate files for each option, indicating the order of their options both in the online enrollment (in the special column) and through a standard declaration included in the files, alongside the documents in physical format. The candidate can apply for maximum 3 faculties or study specializations.

The candidates enrolled online, declared eligible after the evaluation of the electronic file, need to send the documents in physical format, in a sealed envelope on which they have to mention the faculty / study program they are applying for. If they enroll for more faculties, they need to send one file for each option they have been declared eligible for.

If candidates enroll for more study specializations within the same faculty, they need to send only one file which has to contain the language proficiency certificates for each option they have been declared eligible for, along with the receipts certifying the payment of the application processing fee for each option they have been declared eligible for.

The file in physical format can be sent to the following postal address: U.M.F. “Grigore T. Popa” din Iaşi, Str. Universității nr.16, 700115, Iași, România.

After the evaluation of the submitted files, the candidates will be ranked according to faculties and study programs. In the case of two or more candidates with the same final score at the same faculty / study program, the baccalaureate grade becomes the ranking criterion.

In the admission contest assessing the school performances and the personal achievements of the candidates, on foreign currency self-financed places, the following can participate:

  • Citizens from non-EU countries and active citizens of the European Union, states belonging to the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, for the Romanian, English and French study programs;
  • Romanian citizens for the English or French study programs.
